Welcome to the very first blog post of the newly redesigned TylerBaird.Net!
If you are a current follower, or a brand new visitor; Welcome, and please pardon the dust! The new site is very much a work in progress, and will be testing new features, bells, and whistles over the next few weeks. (Such as this blog you are currently reading this very moment)
Please feel free to offer suggestions and comments as to areas of improvement, or site design choices that may streamline the whole experience. Just remember, be polite and civil, as we artists are shy and liable to disappear down the rabbit-hole if a frighted.
I will explain the new upcoming features, and how the blog will evolve with the future of the site, in further posts.
But, for the time being, I am sure many will ask why I went from my original polished Art Portfolio site, to this new design. The answer is simple; to save time, effort, and avoid further frustration. The old blog, while beautifully designed, worked like an elderly bellhop. Oh, your baggage will get to your room, but it will be slow, brittle, and liable to collapse at a moments notice.
The old site design was a custom built site template running on wordpress, that I then hammered away at, changing headers here and adding CSS and html changes there, whilst loading it up with hundreds of images and pages. The server I originally used just simply couldn't handle all of it, meaning the site would take forever to load my work, thus defeating the whole point of having a convenient online location for my artwork. The whole site became a bit cumbersome and unwieldy to update, and managing it became more of a chore than simply reinventing the site. The solution? Trim the fat, and build a brand new streamlined website!
The new site will be easier to update, will run much faster, viewable on all media devices and OS (including Mobile), and will give the viewer exactly what they want; art, in as few clicks as possible.
I hope you enjoy the site!
