Pantheum: Demigods of Olympia - Box Art (Pre-Production)

Materials:

Traditional Materials:  Print Proofs, Box Templates, Etc

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, Clip Studio Pro

About:

The Pre-Production Box Art for the Pantheum: Demigods of olympia tabletop board game. (A Contract Project at Archwood Games -  where I worked as the Art Director, Production Manager, and Lead Digital Artist)

Every design aspect of this box art was touched by my hand - either hand painted from scratch (Such as the temple architecture), heavily modified and/or repainted (Figure silhouettes, background art), and more. This includes the iconography used on the box sides (player info) as well as designing a new variation of the company logo itself.

Fun Fact - the photo on the right is a pre-production physical box that the CEO of Archwood Games took on his research trip to Greece. My artwork is traveling the world!

About:

The Pre-Production Demigod Character Card Art for the Pantheum: Demigods of olympia tabletop board game. (A Contract Project at Archwood Games -  where I worked as the Art Director, Production Manager, and Lead Digital Artist)

Extensive Concept Design, Digital Sketching, and Painting went into the completion of this Card Artwork. The design went through multiple sketch iterations, several of which can be seen on the right, before moving onto the final approved concept. The final Pre-Production full render painting can be seen on the left, as well as an early prototype design (upper right) for how the cards sync up with the action board and stack on top of each other to form a temple that rises higher and higher. (You build your temple as your card deck grows)

All sketches, final paint renders, icons (shield / Flag / Greece Symbols, etc) were digitally painted by me*. This is a single card sample used for the blue / wave aligned characters - I also designed several alternate flags and icons for Red and Green, which can be seen on the action board in the next section.

*Character portrait artwork used on each individual card was provided by Archwood Games, with only minimal corrections performed for pre-production. All other assets on the card were fully concepted, created, and painted by me*

The Pre-Production Action Board art for the Pantheum: Demigods of olympia tabletop board game. (A Contract Project at Archwood Games -  where I worked as the Art Director, Production Manager, and Lead Digital Artist)

Extensive Concept Design, Digital Sketching, and Painting went into the completion of this Action Board. (With very careful attention paid to spacing and alignment, as this board will directly interact with the demigod character cards) The design went through multiple sketch iterations, one of which can be seen via the bottom sketch, before moving onto the final approved concept. The final Pre-Production full render painting can be seen on top, providing examples of the aforementioned collection of flag types and element colors.

The entirety of the action board (including concept sketches, flags, architecture, stairs, etc) were digitally painted by me.

About:

The Pre-Production assets for the Pantheum: Demigods of olympia tabletop board game. (A Contract Project at Archwood Games -  where I worked as the Art Director, Production Manager, and Lead Digital Artist)

The above images are a misc collection of various logos, art assets, tokens, and photos that I either personally hand-painted digitally, and/or modified or utilized in artwork. Some minor call-outs are: the satchel (upper right) to be later used on the action board steps and maybe the player guidebook, and the flags (lower right) to be used on all character cards, action boards, and concept artwork. (Hundreds of pieces and assets go into designing a board game - this is but a small taste of some of it all)

There are also several photos of an in-progress game kit that includes pieces of the new designs I created as well as some placeholder pieces that have yet to be tackled.

Traditional Materials: N/A

Digital Materials: Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC

About:

Digital Created for a Taste of the Fair competition, an online cooking challenge held in lieu of a physical State Fair event. (Due to the Pandemic)  The physical Fair was canceled last-minute, so the design for the online alternative concept was created VERY quickly in order to appease the appropriate involved parties. The event was a success, with the contest winner and a large physical version of  my banner to return at the next in-person State Fair.

Traditional Materials: Grumbacher Acrylic Paint, Stretched Canvas

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CS6 (White Space Clean-Up Only)

About:

Originally created as an homage to a pet that was very near and dear to my families heart. Unfortunately pets do grow old and pass on from this world sooner than you wish them to, but at least I was able to pay a simple tribute to a loved one.

88 MPH

Materials:

Traditional Materials: None

Digital Materials: Adobe Illustrator CS6, Adobe Photoshop CS6

About:

Inspired by the DeLorean from Back to the Future (1985). This image was initially created as a stand-alone piece, but later led to the creation of one of my favorite pieces Barack to the Future. This design is extremely popular with T-Shirt and Apparel Printers, usually without asking for my permission to use for commercial usage....I don't know whether to be flattered or upset with the amount of Cease and Desists I have had to send over unauthorized commercial usage of this particular piece.

Wedding Invitations - Doctor Who / Charlie Brown Themed

Materials:

Traditional Materials: None

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CC , Clip Studio Pro (Formerly Manga Studio)

About:

These were the front cover illustrations I created for my own wedding. (Which was Doctor Who themed) I had fun hiding small little details, such as: fireflies in a jar representing the child-available representation of the flashing Tardis warp lights, the time traveling "Tardis" itself being a painted cardboard box, and even fitting a Wedding-Themed re-imagining of a classic Doctor Who quote. (Yes, we are both very, very nerdy!)

The characters are Charlie Brown themed; as I am tall, bald, awkward, and forever chasing after the little red-haired girl. (Who in my case, was a Brunette Illustrator.) I awkwardly time-traveled the galaxy in order to propose to her. Thankfully she said yes!

Skill Category Icons / 2D Inventory Icons

Materials:

Traditional Materials: Non-Photo Blue Col Erase Pencil(s), Copic Ink Pen(s)

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CS6 / CC

About:

A set of twelve icons I created for a previous revision of my Artist Resume (Version now retired). These icons were previously used as category images for my "Skills and Abilities" segment of my updated Artist Resume, and were heavily inspired by the inventory menu of classic video-games. (The whole Resume itself has nods to gaming; such as: The Health Bar at the top, The gem-based lives left indicator, the character icon (A bald Warrior-Knight holding a Pencil), the Stat screen, inventory items, the gem character-location marker, and more.)

Because I enjoyed creating these icons so much, they have been given new life via the homepage! Several of the icons are used as category images for the navigation banner call outs.

In Progress Comics (Vaggio Di Cortez / I'm Just Saiyan)

Materials:

Traditional Materials: Non-Photo Blue Col Erase Pencil (Cortez Comic)

Digital Materials: Clip Studio Pro (I'm Just Saiyan Comic)

About:

Two comics, with wildly different themes, being currently worked on. Both are currently in their sketch phase, but I thought I would share them none-the-less. Vaggio Di Cortez is the harrowing journey of Cortez, who follows a tantalizing scent trail through the foreboding great-lawn. This is the first few pages of a multi-ark story.

I'm Just Saiyan is a silly micro-comic that attempt to explain why everyone is constantly screaming in Dragon Ball Z. The answer? Constipation...Terrible, terrible constipation.

Mordin Solus - Limited Color Palette

Materials:

Traditional Materials: None

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CS6

About:

After playing the Mass Effect series I was inspired to work up a digital sketch of one of my favorite characters Mordin Solus.

Well, also after the ending of the series I had to create this as a bit of homage to Mordin so that my Wife would stop crying every time I mention his name.
